BUYING AND TRADING BOOKS AND RECORDS

We buy books and records

WE BUY BOOKS AND RECORDS!
Are your books and records taking up more space in your home than they deserve?
Moving? Want to trade books and records for new ones?
Bring us your books and records! We might not take all of them, but we'll pay cash or give you store credit for the ones we do want.
    Buying Schedules:
  • General Book Buying: Thursday through Sunday, 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm.
  • We do not buy and trade books at the store during August and December, but we do continue to buy records.
  • Records (LPs): Monday through Thursday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Friday, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. You can also call 510-832-4438 or e-mail waldenpondrecords@gmail.com to make a record-buying appointment.
  • DVDs or CDs: We are not currently purchasing DVDs. We do purchase high quality CDs Monday through Thursday, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
  • Mysteries or Science Fiction: Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm or call 510-832-4438 to make an appointment with Bob.
  • Comics: E-mail paul@waldenpondbooks.com and include a description with photos to set up an appointment.
    • We are especially interested in small to medium size Gold, Silver, and Bronze Age collections. (We can't buy thousands!)
  • House Buys for Books: If you have a significant quantity of books - many more than you can bring to the store - we can schedule a house call. To set up an appointment, please e-mail paul@waldenpondbooks.com or phone Bob at 510-350-8472 or phone or text Jay at 510-326-1270. Please include some basic information of what is available, the location, and, if possible, please include some photos of books with titles clearly visible.
    • House Buys for Records: If you have a large record collection that you cannot bring in to the store, call 510-832-4438 or e-mail waldenpondrecords@gmail.com to make an appointment.
Guidelines to Selling and Trading Books and Records at Walden Pond Books:
    • We can look at only two boxes or three grocery bags of books per customer per day. If the quality is excellent the buyer may choose to look at more.
    • Please pack your books neatly in boxes no larger than a banker's box or in sturdy bags - no huge boxes or plastic trash bags, please!
    • We only buy books that are in good condition - we will not buy books with torn covers or pages or books that contain highlighting or underlining.
    • We will not buy Reader's Digest condensed books, older textbooks, magazines, encyclopedias, or computer books.
    • No drop-offs, please. Unless you have made a specific arrangement with a staff member, we are not responsible for any books or records left at the store.
    • We can almost always go through your books or records when you bring them in. Once we start looking at what you've brought us, we prefer you wait until we are finished, but if you must leave the store while we're still looking, be sure your name and telephone number are written clearly on all bags or boxes.
    • We occasionally will accept as donations the books or records that we did not purchase from you, but more often we will recommend a charitable institution that we know is accepting donations.
