The Walk Oakland! Map & Guide highlights the City's historic walkways, neighborhoods, and landmarks. It includes bikeways, street grades, parks, schools, libraries, and post offices as well as information on pedestrian and bicyclist safety, city resources, and area transit. Now in its second edition, the map is available at Walden Pond Books.
DIRECTIONS TO WALDEN POND BOOKS
    Driving from San Francisco, Berkeley, Contra Costa County areas:
  • Take Hwy 580 East. Exit at Grand Avenue / Lakeshore in Oakland.
  • Turn left (go under the freeway overpass) onto Grand Avenue.
  • We are one block off the 580 freeway on the right-hand side (3316 Grand Avenue) - just past the first stop light down the block from the Grand Lake Theatre.
  • Park on the street or in the parking lot next to the stop light (Be sure to buy a parking permit for street or lot parking!)
    Driving from Hayward, Pleasanton, Fremont areas:
  • Take Hwy 580 West. Exit at Lakeshore Avenue in Oakland.
  • Go straight onto Lakepark Avenue for two short blocks to Grand Avenue and turn right.
  • We are on the right-hand side (3316 Grand Avenue) - just past the first stop light down the block from the Grand Lake Theatre.
  • Park on the street or in the parking lot next to the stop light (Be sure to buy a parking permit for street or lot parking!)
